​This is a beautifully restored and renovated traditional stone cottage on Mason Island, off the coast of Carna in Co. Galway that boasts breathtaking panoramic views of the renowned Connemara mainland and coastline.  Mason Island is now uninhabited - the last families having been relocated to the mainland in the late 1950's.   Tradition has it that Mason Islanders were among the most able and talented craftsmen and women in the region.  The remains of traditional hand built stone walls, piers and roads can still be found on the island as well as many (mainly) derelict stone built houses.
